IMO Secretary General to Visit Pakistan for Maritime Conference

Islamabad: Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is scheduled to make his first visit to Pakistan from September 12 to 14, 2024. During his visit, Velasco will engage in the “International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference” and will meet with top leaders and senior government officials of Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit of Secretary General Velasco marks a significant opportunity for dialogue and cooperation between Pakistan and the IMO, focusing on maritime sector issues and the blue economy.

Pakistan, as a founding member of the IMO, has a longstanding commitment to the organization’s goals of ensuring safe, secure, and efficient shipping across clean oceans. The country has been elected to the IMO Council five times, reflecting its active role in supporting and promoting the objectives of the IMO.
