In occupied Kashmir High Court quashes detention order of minor under Public Safety Act

Srinagar, December 09, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has quashed the detention order of a minor, saying that a juvenile cannot be booked under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA). A bench of Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir, setting aside detention order of a minor, Rayees Ahmad Mir, a resident of Delina Tantraypora in Bandipora, said that the order was illegal.

The court directed that copy of the judgment be circulated among all the District Magistrates for information. According to Rayees Ahmad Mir’s plea, which he filed through his counsel, he was booked on September 18, this year, by the District Magistrate of Baramulla under PSA and was ordered to be detained.
