Islamabad:Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has accused India of being the biggest sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan, with the Afghan Taliban regime acting as a proxy.
According to Radio Pakistan, in an interview with Reuters, Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated that India is the primary contractor in this situation, with the TTP and BLA acting as proxies. He also noted the presence of groups such as ETIM, IMU, Al-Qaeda, and ISKP in Afghanistan.
The DG ISPR expressed concerns over Afghanistan being run by what he described as a non-state actor, emphasizing Pakistan’s worries about the use of non-state actors, militias, and armed groups to achieve objectives. He highlighted that since the Soviet intervention, multiple agencies and proxies have established themselves in Afghanistan.
Lieutenant General Chaudhry mentioned that Pakistan is actively engaging with Afghanistan, requesting it to cease supporting terrorism within Pakistan and stop providing refuge to terrorist leaders such as Noor Wali Kharji, Bashir Zeb of BLA, and Gul Bahadur. He warned that if the Afghan Taliban regime does not address Pakistan’s terrorism concerns, it will face serious consequences.
He further stated that the Afghan Taliban regime lacks international credibility and urged the global community to pressure Afghanistan into functioning like a normal state, including halting drug cultivation and production. Additionally, he affirmed the capability of Pakistan’s armed forces to counter threats from the Afghan regime, including drone-related threats.
