Mirwaiz Umar Farooq talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar said that there was nothing new in waving of Pakistani flags in the rallies of Hurriyet leaders. Such flags were being waved in rallies since 1947, he stated.

The APHC Chairman said that genuine dissent couldn’t be muzzled through military might. “New Delhi must understand the basics of Kashmir dispute and start a meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders so that peace can be ensured in South Asia,” he maintained. Earlier, addressing a conference organized by Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian in Srinagar in connection with the anniversary of the architect of Iranian Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, the Mirwaiz and other speakers paid glowing tributes to him.

He urged Iran to use its good offices for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute at the earliest. Kashmiri nation if follows the Iranian Islamic revolution model than that day is not far away when the slavery of this nation will end.”

The spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory, Advocate Zahid Ali, said that Iranian Islamic Revolution and urge of Kashmiris to achieve their rights were deeply linked. Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari said that Imam Khomeini challenged and triumphed over imperialistic powers.
