Srinagar: Indian military and paramilitary forces have intensified their search operations across several districts in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), following recent attacks that resulted in casualties among both civilians and security personnel.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the increased military activity includes the use of drones and helicopters in a large-scale operation in Bota Pathri, Gulmarg, in Baramulla district, triggered by an attack on Thursday night that killed two Indian soldiers and wounded at least three others. In Ganderbal district, forces have been conducting continuous raids and searches for the past week after an attack at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway in Sonamarg, which resulted in the deaths of a Kashmiri doctor and five Indian workers.
The report also detailed a significant operation in the Reasi forests, initiated due to reports of suspicious movements. These operations are characterized by the deployment of advanced surveillance technology and are supported by dog squads to enhance the search efforts.
Simultaneously, another search operation is ongoing in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district, involving both the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and local police forces.
The operations have led to the detention of dozens of individuals and are reported to involve intimidating tactics by troops, which have exacerbated the climate of fear among the local populace in the already tense region.
