Indian Muslims Rally Against Proposed Waqf Bill Amendments

Bengaluru: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has expressed strong opposition to proposed amendments in the Waqf Bill, arguing that they would undermine the protections and provisions currently in place.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press conference in Bengaluru, Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, the General Secretary of the Board, declared the community’s discontent with the amendments, revealing that over 3.66 crore Muslims have registered their protest via email within just 13 days. “When the Muslims do not want this bill, then the government must set it aside,” he stated, emphasizing the need for governmental responsiveness to the community’s concerns.

Mujaddidi highlighted that historical amendments to the Waqf Board were aimed at strengthening it, but the current proposal would do the opposite. He called for careful consideration of the community’s stance and announced that the Waqf Amendment Bill would be a key topic at the 29th conference of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board scheduled for November 23-24 in Bengaluru.
