Indian Police Constable Shoots Sub-Inspector in Manipur

Imphal: An Indian police constable has killed a Sub-Inspector in the violence-hit state of Manipur, India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the police constable fatally shot his colleague, Sub-Inspector Md. Shahjahan, during a routine deployment in Mongbung village in Jiribam district. The area is currently under heightened security due to ongoing violence in the region.

Preliminary reports indicate that the police constable fired a shot from his service rifle, hitting the Sub-Inspector. The deceased, Md. Shahjahan, was a resident of Yairipok Tulihal and was posted at Jiribam Police Station.

The accused police constable has been identified as Akoijam Bikram Singh from Naharup Pangong Makhong. Singh has been arrested as authorities seek to ascertain the facts surrounding the shooting and take appropriate action.
