Indian Police Detain Man Under Public Safety Act in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: Indian police detained a man under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a police official said the man, identified as Gulam Rehmani, also known as “Bachu,” is a resident of Rakh Barotian and was named in multiple cases at Vijaypur Police Station.

The police team arrested Rehmani and lodged him in District Jail, Kathua, Jammu. The detention under the PSA allows authorities to hold an individual for up to two years without trial, a measure that has drawn criticism from human rights organizations.
