Indigenously State of the Art Zainab Alert App formally launched

Karachi, March 10, 2020 (PPI-OT): This afternoon, IGP Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar formally launched Indigenously State of the Art Zainab Alert Mobile App at CPO in a sample ceremony in the presence of high officials from all concerned departments, members of Civil Society, Officers /Staff of Sindh Police and guests from CPLC along with volunteers.

 

While addressing the gathering, Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar Police Chief highlighted the importance and need of such Mobile App to save the lives of our future generations through the use of current Information Communication Technology (ICT) to address our existing social issues by ourselves.

 

He commented the efforts put in by the project team members to make this excellent app, friendly user and without any use of public money. He hoped that soon more such apps will be added in Zainab Alert System, to address other problems like checking of vehicle on the go and use of ICT to identify criminals, through facial recognition, artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning features. He mentioned that our young engineer’s effort be recognized and letter of appreciation will be given to project members and the police Headquarters will facilitate them to produce more results.

 

While addressing the gathering CPLC Chief mentioned about the joint venture between the Police, CPLC and volunteers from M/s Invent Lab have taken an initiative and joined the CPLC’s R and D team to make Zainab Alert Mobile app indigenously for reporting missing and found Children. He said that app has thoroughly been tested for last many months at CPO and CPLC by a dedicated team of experts to ensure that there is no bug in its operations of alert system prior it’s formal launching. He also reported that Zainab Alert is par with the similar system being used by 1st world nations in the world.

 

In addition, Zainab Alert is the starting point of series of apps that we will also launch one by one soon. Hitherto, we are focusing on the speedy reporting of missing and unidentified (found) children. In addition work on Android, IOS apps and Web is underway. He also mentioned about recently Zainab Alert Bill 2020 has also been passed by senate. This app will fulfill the requirement of “establishment of a Zainab Alert system” for reporting missing children including maintaining of database across Pakistan.

 

He added that he is confident, launching of this app from Karachi will soon expand to national wide. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to work on a massive post launch media hype of this application for awareness, so that this application will be used by majority to serve our country.

 

Project coordinator gave a detailed presentation about the project. He mentioned that this app is multi linguistic. It was mentioned that launching of this app is a proof that many social problems can be solved by our self without use of public money. He recommended that all NGOs/NPOs and other organizations must share their experience to avoid duplication efforts on same task. Cdr (Rtd) Liaquat Ali PN, thanked all his team members, CPLC and CPO to achieve this noble goal. The ceremony was end by inauguration of Zainab alert App by IGP Sindh.
