Info Minister Calls on Developed Nations to Honor Climate Commitments.

BAKU: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has urged developed nations to fulfill their climate pledges to support developing countries in addressing climate change challenges. In his remarks at the Pakistan Pavilion during the COP 29 Summit, he emphasized the need for global commitments to be honored under the Paris Agreement.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Information Minister highlighted the severe impacts of global warming, monsoon rains, floods, and glacier melting on the population, causing widespread homelessness and crop damage. He pointed out that Pakistan contributes less than 0.5 percent to the emission of toxic gases, yet it experiences some of the most severe consequences of climate change.

Minister Tarar underscored that many countries, including Pakistan, are grappling with difficulties due to climate change, despite their minimal contributions to global emissions. He stressed the financial burden faced by Pakistan, which has incurred billions of dollars in losses, and called for collaborative efforts to combat this pressing global issue.
