Info Minister Criticizes Asad Qaiser’s Remarks as Misleading

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has described opposition leader Asad Qaiser’s press conference as misleading and contrary to facts. In his statement, the Minister emphasized that such statements regarding the country’s economy are not in the public’s favor.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister questioned whether the opposition is unwilling to acknowledge the country’s economic achievements, citing record remittances of 38 billion dollars, a current account surplus of 2.1 billion dollars, increasing exports, a booming stock market, and a developing economy. He pointed out that global rating agencies have improved Pakistan’s ranking in terms of its economy.

The Minister further stated that the opposition’s real concern lies with the ongoing legal proceedings against the perpetrators of the May 9 conspiracy. He affirmed that sentences in May 9 cases have been issued in accordance with the law following transparent and fair trials.
