Info Minister Urges Developed Countries to Fulfill Climate Pledges.

Baku: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has emphasized the importance of developed nations fulfilling their commitments to aid developing countries in addressing climate change issues. Speaking at the Pakistan Pavilion during the COP 29 Summit, he highlighted the necessity for global commitments to be honored as outlined in the Paris Agreement.

According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar pointed out the severe impact of global warming, monsoon rains, floods, and glacier melting on the population, which have resulted in homelessness and crop damage. Despite Pakistan’s minimal contribution of less than 0.5 percent to the emission of toxic gases, the country is enduring significant consequences from climate change.

He further noted that other countries have a greater share in emissions, yet nations like Pakistan are disproportionately affected. Attaullah Tarar stressed the financial toll on Pakistan, which has suffered billions of dollars in losses due to climate change, and called fo
r collaborative efforts to combat this global issue.
