Interior Minister Directs Establishment of National Forensic Agency Sub-Offices

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the state-of-the-art National Forensic Agency in Islamabad, which has recently become fully functional. During his visit, he inspected various labs including the Research and Innovation Lab, Digital Forensic Lab, Narcotics Lab, Fintech Lab, and the Questionable Document Lab, alongside the DNA, Firearms, Serology, and Explosives rooms.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Interior Minister expressed his appreciation for the team’s efforts in making the agency operational swiftly. He emphasized the agency’s critical role in addressing national security concerns and combating crime, highlighting its capability to provide advanced services to all provinces and law enforcement agencies.

Mohsin Naqvi directed the establishment of sub-offices of the National Forensic Agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. He underscored the importance of publicizing the agency’s services to ensure widespread institutional benefit.

The Interior Minister also visited the mock crime scene unit, engaging with ASP trainees and discussing the course’s career-long benefits. DG National Forensic Agency Hasnaat Rasool briefed the Minister on the agency’s operations, noting the completion of its first phase and the upcoming development of 25 specialized labs in the second phase.

The briefing included an overview of services such as digital, deep fake, computer, mobile, audio-video, network, and drone forensics, and highlighted that 1500 digital forensic cases were reported in the past year. The visit was attended by other key figures including the DG Anti-Narcotics Force, DG FIA, DG National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, and IG Islamabad Police.
