Interior Minister of Pakistan and Bangladesh High Commissioner Discuss Bilateral Ties and Cricket Promotion

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Bangladeshi High Commissioner Muhammad Ruhul Alam Siddique to discuss bilateral relations and the promotion of cricket between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

According to Press Information Department, the discussions focused on various matters of mutual interest, including the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament, which Pakistan is set to host. The Bangladeshi High Commissioner extended his best wishes to Pakistan for the event’s successful organization.

The Interior Minister announced his plans to visit Bangladesh soon, following special instructions from the Prime Minister, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations. Naqvi highlighted the long-standing ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, emphasizing Pakistan’s interest in advancing relations across multiple fields. He assured that preparations for the Champions Trophy were underway, with all necessary arrangements being finalized.

The Bangladeshi High Commissioner commended the Pakistan cricket team’s recent performances in the Test series against England and the T20 series against Australia, noting the team’s strong support in Bangladesh. He also acknowledged the deep people-to-people connections between the two nations, expressing that his tenure in Pakistan has been the most rewarding part of his career. He remarked on Pakistan’s reputation as a favorable duty station within the diplomatic community.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Special Secretary and Additional Secretary of Interior, the Commandant of Frontier Constabulary, Chief Commissioner, IG Islamabad Police, and DC Islamabad.
