Karachi: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi visited the Pakistan Coast Guards Headquarters, where he was received by Director General Major General Jawad Riaz. During his visit, the Interior Minister paid homage to martyrs by laying a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and held a meeting with senior officers.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the minister was briefed on the significant achievements of the Pakistan Coast Guards over the past five months, including the seizure of contraband and smuggled goods valued at $315 million. The briefing highlighted a substantial increase in the organization’s revenue in the first seven months of the current fiscal year.
Mohsin Naqvi commended the Pakistan Coast Guards for their work under resource constraints. He praised Major General Jawad Riaz and his team for their dedication and efforts. During the visit, Naqvi explored the potential for launching a ferry service for pilgrims to Iran and called for a detailed implementation plan.
The Interior Minister stressed the importance of enhancing the operational capacity of the Coast Guards and urged for increased international cooperation. He instructed officials to intensify efforts in anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operations, emphasizing the crucial role the Coast Guards play in securing Pakistan’s coastal areas.
