Interior Minister Vows to Safeguard SCO Summit Security Amid Protests

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared on Saturday that all measures are in place to prevent any disruptions to the upcoming SCO summit, emphasizing a robust security presence throughout the capital.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Naqvi is coordinating closely with the Prime Minister to oversee the security preparations. He noted the deployment of the Army and the Frontier Corps to bolster the defenses against potential threats. The minister also expressed concern over recent protests orchestrated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, which resulted in violent clashes with law enforcement involving gunfire and tear gas. These protests, he suggested, have underlying motives aimed at destabilizing the summit’s proceedings.
