International Day of Women in Diplomacy Observed to Highlight Gender Inequality in Foreign Affairs

Lahore: International Day of Women in Diplomacy is being observed today. The day focuses on raising awareness about the crucial role played by women in diplomacy and foreign affairs.

According to Radio Pakistan, despite global commitments to achieve gender equality, women continue to be significantly underrepresented in diplomatic and political leadership roles. Recent trends indicate a concerning regression in efforts to bridge this gap, highlighting the ongoing challenge of achieving true gender parity in these fields.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the occasion, paid tribute to women diplomats. She emphasized that the courageous women who have historically contributed to the field of diplomacy are a valuable national asset. Her remarks underline the importance of recognizing and supporting the contributions of women in international relations.
