International Handmade Carpet Exhibition in Lahore Attracts Global Buyers

Lahore: The 41st International Handmade Carpet Exhibition has begun in Lahore, drawing a significant number of international buyers. Organized by the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), the three-day event showcases a wide array of handmade carpets.

Senior Director General of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Fauzia Parveen Chaudhry, officially inaugurated the exhibition at a local hotel. The event’s opening was attended by several key figures, including Director Textile and Leather Mehwish Khadim and PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman, among others.

Following the inauguration, Chaudhry toured the exhibition stalls, highlighting the craftsmanship and quality of Pakistani handmade carpets. She noted the global reputation of these products and emphasized the potential for boosting the nation’s exports.

PCMEA Chairman Mian Atiq-ur-Rehman and Exhibition Chairman Riaz Ahmed observed the participation of numerous international companies. They expressed optimism about securing substantial export deals, which could bolster the local carpet industry.

The exhibition also features unique displays, including carpets made by inmates of Punjab’s prisons and designs from students of the National College of Arts, showcasing both innovation and tradition.
