Srinagar, November 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has hailed the Kashmiri people for demonstrating exemplary sectarian harmony during Muharram.The APHC Chairman in a statement in Srinagar hoped that the people would maintain this atmosphere of brotherhood in the future as well to frustrate the nefarious designs of the anti-unity elements and vested interests.
The Mirwaiz castigated the occupation authorities for imposing curbs on Muharram processions in the name of so-called security concerns, terming it interference in religious affairs of the people.
He also denounced the use of force against mourners saying that such tactics could not drive the Kashmiris away from Islam and great Muslim personalities.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of Awami Action Committee in his statement in Srinagar flayed the puppet authorities for putting party Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest and preventing people from offering Juma prayers at historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar.
He said that the authorities had already usurped the basic human and political rights of the people and now they were not allowing the masses to perform their religious obligations.
