Iran Offers to Mediate in Pak-Afghanistan Tensions

Tehran: Iran has extended an offer to mediate in the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran today. The discussions focused on Pakistan-Iran relations and avenues for bilateral cooperation.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, Interior Minister Naqvi briefed the Iranian President on matters concerning the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. President Pezeshkian proposed that Iran could play a fraternal role in easing the tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Minister Naqvi conveyed a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to President Pezeshkian, emphasizing that Iran and Pakistan are partners in regional peace and stability. President Pezeshkian reiterated his country’s commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, acknowledging the significant support it has received from Islamabad.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and highlighted the necessity for enhanced cooperation to fully leverage the opportunities available to both nations.
