Irfan Siddiqui Center Inaugurated to Propel Islamic Finance in Pakistan

Karachi: A significant development in the advancement of Islamic banking in Pakistan was marked as the Irfan Siddiqui Center for Advancement of Islamic Finance was inaugurated at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA). This initiative aims to support the evolution of Islamic finance as a mainstream component of the country’s financial landscape.

The Center honors Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, a prominent figure in Islamic banking, recognizing his leadership and contributions to the field. Under his guidance, Islamic banking in Pakistan transitioned from a niche concept to a widely accepted financial model. The inauguration ceremony was led by Dr. Syed Saif ur Rehman, Director General of NIPA, and the Center was formally opened by Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, the Founder, President, and CEO of Meezan Bank.

Dr. Saif ur Rehman highlighted Mr. Siddiqui’s role in institutionalizing Islamic banking, enhancing Shariah governance, and building professional capacity in the sector. He emphasized that Mr. Siddiqui’s influence extends beyond his tenure, providing a lasting foundation for Pakistan’s Islamic finance ecosystem.

In his keynote address, Mr. Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the recognition and stressed the significance of ethical leadership and value-based financial systems in fostering inclusive economic growth.

The newly established Center is designed as a hub for education, research, and professional development, with the goal of enhancing the credibility and global standing of Islamic finance in Pakistan. It stands as a tribute to Mr. Siddiqui’s transformative leadership and service to the industry.
