Islamabad Prepares for SCO Summit with Comprehensive Security Measures

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi chaired a critical meeting on October 2, 2024, at the Ministry of Interior, laying out extensive preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. The summit, a significant diplomatic event for Pakistan, will see heads of state from member countries converging on Islamabad.

According to Press Information Department, the high-level meeting included senior officials such as the Federal Secretary Interior, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the IG Police, and representatives from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and other security agencies. During the session, Minister Naqvi approved a detailed security plan designed to ensure the event proceeds without incident.

The arrangements for the SCO Summit involve not only stringent security measures but also enhancements to the city’s infrastructure, including beautification and cleanliness drives specifically orchestrated for the event. Naqvi emphasized the importance of the summit as a prestigious opportunity for Pakistan to host international leaders and showcase its hospitality and organizational capabilities.

To guarantee foolproof security, additional forces from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Federal Constabulary, and Punjab Police will be deployed around strategic locations in Islamabad. The Interior Minister stressed the need for seamless coordination among all involved departments to facilitate a peaceful and successful summit.
