Islamabad: In a significant push to enhance road safety and discipline, the Islamabad Traffic Police, under the direction of SSP Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, has launched a series of measures to maintain a smooth flow of traffic throughout the capital. This initiative follows the directives of Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aiming to improve the overall traffic management system and minimize road accidents.
According to Islamabad Capital Police announcement issued on 07 September 2024, the recent meeting at the Traffic Police Headquarters brought together zonal DSPs, Zonal muharrars, and other senior officers to strategize on enforcing traffic laws more effectively. SSP Virk outlined plans to intensify road discipline, implement legal measures against traffic rule violations, and ensure stringent action against negligence.
A special committee has been established to oversee the implementation of these new measures, with daily reports on progress to be submitted to SSP Virk. The Traffic Police Education Wing is also set to play a crucial role by raising public awareness about road safety and traffic regulations on various highways across the city.
SSP Virk stressed the importance of diligence and sincerity in enforcing traffic laws to safeguard the well-being of the city’s residents and visitors. This renewed effort to tighten traffic management and education aims to foster a safer driving environment in Islamabad.
