Joint Training Course on Halal Standards and Testing Held in Tashkent

Tashkent: A joint training course focusing on “Halal Standards and Testing in the OIC Food, Medicines, and Cosmetics” was inaugurated in Tashkent, marking the collaboration between COMSTECH and Standards, Metrology, and Food Security. The course brought together participants from five OIC member states attending in person, with additional representatives joining remotely from various other countries.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, delivered the opening speech. He welcomed the participants and highlighted the foundational role of halal principles in Islamic teachings, which are applicable not only to food but also to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Dr. Chowdhury underscored the increasing significance of halal certification and the standardization of its practices, emphasizing their role in enhancing trade, fostering consumer trust, and ensuring adherence to Sharia law.

iatives led by COMSTECH, such as the Uzbekistan Country Program. This program provides scholarships, hosts joint scientific events, and launches initiatives particularly aimed at supporting Uzbek women researchers, reflecting COMSTECH’s commitment to fostering scientific collaboration and development within the OIC member states.
