Karachi bids farewell to Swiss Consul General Emil Wyss

Karachi, May 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):In the presence of 1’291 guests, who came from all over Pakistan and abroad to say good bye, the Consul General of Switzerland – Mr. Emil Wyss along with his wife thanked everyone for the exceptional hospitality, kind collaboration, and valuable support during two years tenure in Karachi.

Present among other dignitaries were Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development of Pakistan – Mr. S. M. Muneer, Speaker Sindh Assembly – Mr. Agha Siraj Durrani, Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister – Mrs. Sharmila Farooqui, Provincial Minister for Food – Mr. Nasir Hussain Shah, Commissioner Karachi – Mr. Syed Asif Hyder Shah, Senior Representative of MQM – Mr. Farooq Sattar, British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Consul Generals of France, Germany, Iran, Russia, Turkey, U.S., Consul of Italy, and Honorary Consul Generals of many countries. Leading businessmen, senior journalists, media celebrities, and representatives of academic institutions and NGOs were as well present.

At the event, which was the largest diplomatic function held in Karachi’s recent history; Mr. Wyss presented his successor – Mr. Philippe Crevoisier who will assume office in September. Mr. Wyss will also take his charge as the Consul General of Switzerland in Los Angeles in August 2016. Before his departure, the Consul General and his wife will pay visit to the mausoleum of the Founder of the Pakistani Nation – Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah, witness Karachi’s famous donkey cart race, and donate blood.
