Karachi Initiates Comprehensive Verification of Government Vehicles Under New Directive

Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a widespread physical verification of government vehicles, motorcycles, and service vehicles under the orders of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The initiative, which started on October 22, is conducted at a camp within the KMC Sports Complex and aims to ensure the proper use of city vehicles.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, as of now, 77 vehicles, 56 motorcycles, and 12 service vehicles from 19 different departments have undergone verification. However, 60 more vehicles are yet to be verified, leading to a temporary suspension of fuel supply for these pending vehicles. Departments that have completed the verification process include the Land Department, Anti-Encroachment, Council Secretariat, and several others involved in various administrative and operational functions of the city.

The verification drive will continue until November 20, with the remaining departments expected to present their vehicles for inspection. This includes departments responsible for municipal services, solid waste management, telecommunications, and others. Mayor Wahab has emphasized the importance of transparency during this verification process and has set up a five-member committee to oversee the procedure.

The mayor has expressed confidence that the physical verification will bring about significant improvements in the management and utilization of government vehicles, aligning with efforts to enhance efficiency within the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
