Karachi Mayor Announces Major Road and Infrastructure Repairs to Alleviate Traffic and Improve City Conditions

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced the commencement of a significant infrastructure overhaul across the city following the completion of a rigorous tendering and scrutiny process. This initiative will see the reconstruction of 33 critical roads and the modernization of the street lighting system. The mayor emphasized the strict quality standards required for the construction, warning that any negligence or use of non-standard materials would result in immediate blacklisting of the responsible company.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the repair and construction efforts will focus on major arteries such as Hub River Road, Shahrah Orangi, and others extending to various parts of Karachi, including underpasses and bridges. The project also includes enhancing the sewerage system along key roads, aimed at easing traffic flow and reducing commute times. Mayor Wahab highlighted the need for sustainable infrastructure development, leveraging past experiences to avoid the misuse of allocated funds and ensuring long-term benefits for the city’s residents.

Efforts to synchronize all city departments under the new directives signify a unified approach to tackling Karachi’s longstanding infrastructure challenges. The mayor’s plan underscores a proactive commitment to improving the daily lives of Karachi citizens and ensuring efficient use of resources. The broader goal of these extensive repairs and upgrades is to foster a more connected and accessible city, reducing traffic jams and saving fuel for residents.
