Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed in Canada to Support IIOJK Struggle

Ottawa: Pakistan High Commission and Consulates General in Canada observed Kashmir Solidarity Day to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for self-determination as per United Nations Security Council Resolutions. The event saw participation from members of the Pakistani community and supporters of the Kashmir cause.

According to Radio Pakistan, the occasion included special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan. High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem addressed the gathering, highlighting the ongoing repression faced by Kashmiris in IIOJK, including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, communication blackouts, and forced demographic changes. He paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiris amidst these prolonged challenges.

He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that a lasting resolution to the Kashmir issue requires the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions and alignment with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people through a free and fair plebiscite. The High Commissioner emphasized the international community’s responsibility to ensure justice and accountability.

The event featured documentaries on the Kashmiri struggle, distribution of informational materials, a pictorial exhibition, and media interactions to highlight human rights violations in IIOJK and express solidarity with those facing oppression under Indian occupation.
