Kashmiri Hurriyat Activist Nooruddin Passes Away in Islamabad

Islamabad: Nooruddin alias Saiful Islam, a prominent Kashmiri Hurriyat activist, died last night at a hospital in Islamabad after a prolonged illness.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Nooruddin was a native of the Dalna area in Baramulla district of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He was an alumnus of Kashmir University and later pursued higher education at Aligarh Muslim University in India. Since 1990, Nooruddin had been an active participant in the Kashmir freedom movement, eventually relocating to Pakistan to escape persecution by Indian authorities.

Residing in Taxila city, Pakistan, at the time of his death, Nooruddin battled diabetes and high blood pressure, conditions that recently exacerbated, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent demise.

He is survived by his widow, two daughters, and a son. Nooruddin’s funeral is scheduled to take place today in Islamabad.
