Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to improve training of counter-terrorism police

Peshawar, December 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will continue to review and further improve the training of its counter-terrorism elite police force and may hire the services of specialized international agencies with renowned capabilities.

For this purpose the Cubic Defense Systems, an international firm of repute which has been providing trainings to Saudi, UAE, Jordan, Singapore and even US police has a meeting with the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Shehzad Arbab where the participants were briefed in detail about the services they could provide. Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and Deputy Inspector General(DIG) Police Mohammad Alam Shinwari were also present in the meeting.

Through charts and simulations, it was explained as to how the KP’ counter-terrorism elite force can be further trained on the multiple integrated laser engagement system (MILES) , instrumented ground combat, virtual small arms, live fire ranges, communication, close-quarter battle facilities etc. and bring them on a par with those of the developed countries like UK, US and Singapore.

It was informed that the KP Government wanted to bring the capabilities of its police force on a par with those of the developed countries in rescue, operation, combat, bomb disposal, IEDs handling and intelligence particularly counter-terrorism intelligence.

Therefore, it was decided that the firm’ representatives will first conduct training assessment of the KP police by reviewing their training manuals and facilities and soon come up with a proposal for further improving their such trainings.

It is worth mentioning that of late KP has developed and trained some six thousand personnel on counter terrorism and continues to on the one hand improve their training while on the other to increase their number.
