Makkah: The lower part of the Holy Kaaba’s Kiswa (black cover) has been elevated by three meters in preparations for this year’s Hajj. Our correspondent from Makkah, Abdul Rehman Cheema, reports that the raised portion is covered with a two-meter-wide white cotton cloth on all sides.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this annual procedure is part of preserving the Kiswa and protecting it from touch or damage, especially during the intensive circumambulation in close proximity to the Holy Kaaba during the Hajj season.
