Korangi Industrial Zone Seeks Enhanced Coordination for Development

Karachi: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) is set on transforming the Korangi industrial area into a leading industrial zone. At a recent meeting, KATI President Junaid Naqi emphasized the importance of collaboration with district administration to address the challenges faced by industrialists.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Naqi conveyed these sentiments during a meeting attended by Member Provincial Assembly Farooq Awan, Deputy Commissioner Korangi Masood Bhutto, and Chairman Korangi Town Naeem Shaikh, among others. Naqi highlighted that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are adversely affected by excessive local government taxes and that KATI is committed to addressing these issues. He praised past collaborations with district officials and expressed hope for continued support.

Farooq Awan assured that funds from the Korangi Industrial Area would be reinvested locally, with plans to create clearer tax categories. Deputy Patron-in-Chief of KATI, Zubair Chhaya, noted issues such as encroachment and a need for better communication between institutions. CEO of Kite Limited, Zahid Saeed, pointed to delays in federal funding as a barrier to development, while Deputy Commissioner Bhutto and Chairman Sheikh called for strategies to permanently remove encroachments and improve internal roads. The ongoing development work aims to enhance facilities for the community.
