Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled committed to serve physically challenged people and making efforts to make them active part of society

Lahore, December 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) is committed to serve the physically challenged people and making out all efforts to make them active part of the society. These views were expressed by the LABARD President Muhammad Pervez Malik while addressing at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of LABARD here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

LABARD Senior Vice President Mian Nusratuddin, Joint Secretary Saeed Khan, Secretary Information Ahmer Malik, Finance Secretary Abbas Khan, members of Governing Body and LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir were present on the occasion.

Pervez Malik said that federal and provincial governments should evolve a doable strategy to solve the issues being faced by the physically challenged people. He said that developed countries are giving special attention to the disabled persons and providing every possible facility to them. Not only buildings have special ramps but facilities are also being provided at all public places but situation in our country is quite different.

LABARD Joint Secretary Saeed Khan said that disabled persons could play an important role for the progress and prosperity of the country as they have some special God gifted abilities. He said that there are a number of examples that disabled persons have done extra ordinary jobs.

He said that LABARD has so far provided jobs, training and other facilities to thousands disabled. He said that at the LABARD, a number of services including medical assistance, counseling to mentally disabled persons, speech therapy, Qarz-e-Hasana and crutches, tricycles are being provided absolutely free of cost. TShe number of disabled persons who got themselves registered with the LABARD.

Saeed Khan said that rehabilitation of disabled persons is a sacred job and everybody should come forward to play his role. He said that the LABARD was getting a very good response from the registration camps it was holding at Union council level.

In his address, the LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir paid rich tributes to LABARD office-bearers for spending their time and energies for this noble cause. He said that LABARD is a feather in LCCI cap and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would leave no stone unturned in ensuring proper assistance to the LABARD.

He said that all the businessmen should at least accommodate one disabled person in his factory or office to curtail the miseries of the society. Earlier, LABARD Secretary General Saeed Khan presented one year performance report.
