Lahore Resolution’s Crucial Role in Pakistan’s Creation Highlighted by Dr. Amjad Magsi

Lahore: Director of the Pakistan Studies Center Dr. Amjad Magsi emphasized the importance of March 23rd, the day the Lahore Resolution was adopted in 1940, advocating for an independent state for Muslims in the Indian subcontinent.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Magsi, in an interview with correspondent Zunera Khalid, highlighted the first recorded usage of the word “Pakistan” (without the letter “i”) by Chaudhry Rehmat Ali on January 28, 1933, during the Third Round Table Conference. He noted that the Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, at Minto Park, was a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s struggle for independence. This resolution, also known as the Pakistan Resolution, formally demanded a separate homeland for Muslims, ultimately leading to the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.

Dr. Magsi further underscored the Lahore Resolution as the key factor behind the creation of Pakistan. He also highlighted the significance of Radio Pakistan in preserving national history, emphasizing its evolution
from audio to video service. Dr. Magsi noted that Radio Pakistan was the organization responsible for broadcasting the first announcement of Pakistan’s creation. He acknowledged its journey from traditional audio broadcasts to modern video podcasts as a significant milestone.
