Large-Scale Manufacturing Sees 2.3% Growth in May

Karachi: Large-scale manufacturing (LSM) posted a year-on-year growth of 2.3% in May 2025, marking its second consecutive month of expansion after five months of declines. This growth reflects notable improvements in several key sectors, as indicated by recent data from JS Global.

The food sector was a significant contributor, reporting a 4.4% increase compared to the previous year. Within this sector, sugar, bakery, and confectionery products experienced remarkable growth, with a 44% rise year-on-year.

The growth in LSM is attributed in part to declining inflation, which has led to lower input costs, increased demand, and more stable production processes. Additionally, recent monetary easing has bolstered the growth outlook for the sector, offering further optimism for sustained expansion in the coming months.
