Legislative power lies exclusively with Parliament: Info Minister

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said the right of legislation solely rests with the parliament under the constitution of Pakistan.

In a televised message today, he said parliament is the supreme institution and its supremacy and sovereignty should be upheld.

The Minister also commended Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq for his role in upholding parliamentary sovereignty and taking care of the rights of fellow legislators.

Supporting and appreciating Speaker National Assembly’s stance regarding the independent returned candidates, he adopted in a letter written to the Election Commission of Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar expressed the resolve to continue playing a positive role in upholding parliamentary sovereignty.
