Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik Named New Director General of ISI

Islamabad: Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed the new Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the primary intelligence agency of Pakistan. Set to assume his new role on the 30th of this month, Lt. Gen. Malik brings a wealth of experience from various command and instructional positions within the Pakistan Army.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Lt. Gen. Malik is currently serving as the Adjutant General at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. His prior military engagements include commanding an Infantry Division in Balochistan and an Infantry Brigade in Waziristan, areas critical to Pakistan’s internal security and border management.

Lt. Gen. Malik has distinguished himself throughout his military career, having been honored with a Sword of Honor during his training, indicative of his exemplary service and leadership qualities. He has also served in prominent instructional roles, including as chief instructor at the National Defense University (NDU) in Islamabad and an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.

His educational background is equally notable, with advanced military training from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom, preparing him for strategic roles in Pakistan’s military and intelligence frameworks.

Lt. Gen. Malik’s appointment comes at a time when the ISI continues to play a crucial role in national security and regional stability, with expectations that his leadership will further enhance the agency’s effectiveness in addressing both domestic and international challenges.
