Maritime Minister Announces 100-Acre Seafood Export Zone in Karachi

Karachi: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced the establishment of a 100-acre Seafood Processing and Export Zone at the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority in Karachi. This initiative aims to enhance the blue economy and global seafood trade by developing, financing, and operating a modern value addition complex.

According to Radio Pakistan, the project will involve dedicated seafood processing and export infrastructure spread over 100 acres at the Korangi Fisheries Harbour in Karachi, with an estimated cost ranging between 60 to 80 million dollars. The zone will feature multi-tenant seafood processing units, large-scale cold storage, packaging facilities, logistics and export terminals, and a wastewater treatment plant to ensure environmentally compliant operations.
