Maritime Reforms Boost Karachi Port Operations

Islamabad: The Prime Minister’s Maritime Reforms Task Force has led to significant improvement in the operational capacity of Karachi Port, the customs system and container terminals. Measures to improve port performance and expedite cargo clearance at Karachi Port Trust have been completed. The cargo clearance system has been made more efficient through the implementation of the Green Channel, faceless GD clearance, post-clearance audit and customs reforms.

According to Radio Pakistan, the modernization and operational capacity of Karachi International Container Terminal, South Asia Pakistan Terminals, and Qasim International Container Terminal have been enhanced. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has further improved cargo clearance through the digitalization of ports, the implementation of the Port Community System, modern cargo scanners and electronic weighbridges.
