Masood Khan Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Kashmir Cause

Islamabad: Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and renowned diplomat Sardar Masood Khan has underlined the need for continued development of Azad Kashmir to improve the region’s living standards. In an interactive session with researchers from the Centre for International Strategic Studies Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS AJK), he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause.

According to Radio Pakistan, reflecting on the region’s progress, the former President highlighted the contributions of AJK’s founding leaders, praising their dedication and honesty in building the state. Masood Khan also commended AJK’s educational advancements, noting that thousands of students from the region now pursue higher education both within Pakistan and abroad. He further said that the literacy rate in District Poonch has reached an impressive 85 percent.

In terms of infrastructure, he stressed the region’s untapped potential in natural resources. He said AJK has immense potential for hydropower generation and tourism, with its abundant water resources and breathtaking natural beauty.

On the Kashmir issue, Masood Khan reiterated that the liberation of Kashmir and the right to self-determination for its people remain Pakistan’s top priority. He lamented the lack of international focus on the Kashmir issue.

Earlier, the event opened with welcoming remarks from CISS AJK’s Executive Director, who praised Ambassador Masood Khan’s distinguished career and expressed gratitude for his continued support. A detailed presentation on the institute’s achievements followed.

The session concluded with Dr. Asma Shakir Khwaja presenting a souvenir to Ambassador Masood Khan as a token of appreciation for his contributions and unwavering advocacy for the Kashmir cause.
