Karachi: Meezan Bank, the leading Islamic bank in Pakistan, has announced the launch of Visa’s Global eSIM for its Visa Infinite Debit Cardholders, marking a first for the country’s banking sector. This digital initiative aims to streamline international connectivity for travelers by eliminating the need for physical SIM cards.
The Visa Global eSIM allows users to switch mobile carriers and activate international data plans directly on their devices. Meezan Bank customers with the Visa Infinite card will receive up to 3GB of high-speed data for 21 days across more than 150 countries, along with a 25% discount on additional data purchases.
Syed Iftikhar ul Haq, Group Head of Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank, emphasized the convenience and security this service provides, enabling cardholders to avoid local SIM purchases and unsecured Wi-Fi networks while traveling. He highlighted this as a unique benefit integrated into a premium debit card, enhancing the travel experience for high-value customers.
Visa’s Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Umar Khan, noted the growing importance of secure global connectivity as international travel increases. He stressed that the eSIM service reflects a response to the surge in global mobile data usage, facilitating seamless and secure digital access for travelers.
