Karachi: Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s leading Islamic financial institution, has introduced a new Foreign Currency (FCY) Debit Card tailored for the country’s freelancers and exporters. The card is designed for those maintaining an Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Account (ESFCA) with the bank, providing a streamlined approach to international payments and transactions.
According to a statement by Meezan Bank Limited, the FCY Debit Card is powered by Mastercard and is globally accepted, facilitating hassle-free management of business transactions abroad. It allows users direct access to their ESFCA account for various payments without needing prior approval from the State Bank of Pakistan. This feature is anticipated to benefit freelancers and exporters by simplifying payment processes at retail outlets worldwide.
The card also offers the facility to withdraw cash from Mastercard ATMs globally, providing real-time tracking of expenditures and enabling straightforward cross-border payments. Enhanced with 3D Secure technology, the card ensures a higher level of security for e-commerce transactions. Furthermore, its NFC capability allows for contactless payments, adding to user convenience for retail purchases around the world.
Syed Iftikhar ul Haq, Group Head of Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank, stated that the introduction of this card is part of the bank’s commitment to providing advanced financial tools to Pakistan’s exporters and freelancers, particularly in a globally interconnected economy. The FCY Debit Card is poised to streamline payment processes and offer a secure, efficient means for international transaction management.
