Karachi: Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s leading Islamic bank, has forged a partnership with The Hunar Foundation (THF) to address the skills-to-job gap among Pakistani youth. This collaboration is part of the ‘Meezan Justuju’ initiative, the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility program centered on education, employment, and economic empowerment.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Syed Amir Ali, Deputy CEO of Meezan Bank, and Mr. Tahir Jawaid, CEO of The Hunar Foundation, in a ceremony attended by senior officials from both entities.
The program aims to provide participants with technical skills that are relevant to the market, thereby facilitating employment and financial independence. This initiative is also expected to contribute to Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
Since early 2024, Meezan Bank has expanded its Meezan Justuju initiative, collaborating with institutions such as IBA CEIF and NED Academy. The partnership with THF represents a significant step in the bank’s efforts to support youth through targeted training and employment programs. It is set to benefit over 150 trainees this year, potentially reshaping the national landscape of skill development and employability.
The Meezan Justuju initiative has trained over 600 individuals, with many securing employment shortly after completing the program. The partnership with THF aligns with national goals to leverage Pakistan’s young population by enhancing skills through vocational training.
Syed Amir Ali highlighted the importance of the initiative at the signing ceremony, emphasizing the potential of Pakistan’s youth, who make up 65% of the nation’s population. He stated that the collaboration aims to unlock sustainable economic development and contribute to the long-term prosperity of Pakistan.
Mr. Tahir Jawaid, CEO of The Hunar Foundation, expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting the shared mission of equipping underserved individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a competitive environment. He emphasized that the collaboration is aimed at transforming lives and fostering a prosperous future for Pakistan.
