Mercy Petitions of 19 Convicts in May 9 Cases Accepted

Islamabad: The mercy petitions of nineteen convicts linked to the May 9 incidents have been approved on humanitarian grounds, as per a statement by the ISPR. These individuals will be released following the completion of necessary procedural steps. They maintain the right to appeal and pursue other legal avenues under the law and constitution.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a total of sixty-seven convicts submitted mercy petitions. The remaining cases will be addressed in due time, adhering to the legal process. The remission of these punishments reflects a commitment to due process and fairness, balancing justice with compassion and mercy.

The individuals whose sentences have been remitted include Muhammad Ayaz, Sami Ullah, Laeeq Ahmed, Amjad Ali, Yasir Nawaz, Said Alam, Zahid Khan, Muhammad Suleman, Hamza Sharif, Muhammad Salman, Asher Butt, Muhammad Waqas, Sufayan Idrees, Muneeb Ahmed, Muhammad Ahmed, Muhammad Nawaz, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Bilawal, and Muhammad Ilyas.
