Merit was critical and that focus should be on small and medium enterprises especially in areas of energy and infrastructure development: Ambassador Farukh Amil

Tokyo, November 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): The representatives of HIDA/ AOTS Alumni Societies – Pakistan chapter, who attended the 9th World Convention of HIDA/ AOTS Alumni Societies October 29-30, 2014, Tokyo, met with Ambassador Farukh Amil. They shared the purpose of Convention to appreciate technical transfer and social contribution activities promoted by former HIDA/ AOTS training programme participants. The theme of discussion in the current meeting was to explore the prospect for partnerships among the Alumni Societies, with an emphasis on value creation.

The delegation from Pakistan represented light engineering, automotive and aviation sectors. The Ambassador thanked the delegates for visiting the Embassy. He informed them about his several meetings with President HIDA, urging them to increase the number of training programmes which had declined in the past decade. He underlined that merit was critical and that focus should be on SME’s especially in the areas of energy and infrastructure development. The Ambassador also highlighted the strategic importance of Pakistan with its huge domestic and regional markets.

Human Resource Development, the Ambassador said, was critical in harnessing the energy, enthusiasm and entrepreneurship of Pakistan’s youth. Mr. Nabeel Hashimi thanked Ambassador on behalf of the AOTS Alumni for sharing his vision and promised to work closely in future with the Embassy for the development of future Management Training Programmes for Pakistan.
