Minister Ahsan Iqbal Calls for Stronger Research and Development Integration to Tackle Pakistan’s Climate Challenges

Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the urgent need for enhanced integration between research institutions and Pakistan’s national development agenda during a symposium on Climate Change and Health Development Consequences.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal pointed out the critical challenges posed by climate change, notably referring to the catastrophic floods in 2022 that resulted in losses exceeding $30 billion. He underscored the necessity for increased collaboration across various scientific and technological fields to effectively address these issues.

Furthermore, Minister Iqbal called on the Pakistan Academy of Sciences to unify the nation’s leading scientists to forge solutions that synergize science and technology with economic growth, aiming to mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and enhance national resilience.
