Minister Criticizes PTI’s Planned Protest as Intent to Spread Instability

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its planned protest, labeling it as an attempt to spread chaos and disrupt the country’s stability.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of misusing public funds for political demonstrations, expressing concerns over the legality and potential impact of such actions.

The Information Minister referenced a letter from the Ministry of Interior to the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which clearly stated that government resources should not be utilized for political purposes. Furthermore, he highlighted a ruling from the Islamabad High Court that has not granted permission for any protests or sit-ins, emphasizing that engaging in such activities would be illegal.

Tarar warned against any attempts to storm Islamabad, stating that there would be zero tolerance for unlawful gatherings and that strict action would be taken against those violating the law. He criticized PTI for its history of disruptive actions, including protests during high-level foreign visits, such as the 2014 demonstrations against the Chinese President’s visit and similar calls for upcoming visits by Belarusian officials.

The minister questioned the motives behind PTI’s protests, suggesting that the party aims to secure an NRO for its leader, who is facing multiple legal cases. He accused PTI of attempting to hinder Pakistan’s progress, stall economic stability, and pursue an anti-national agenda, asserting that the government would not permit such actions.
