Minister Denies Plans to Close Utility Stores Corporation, Discusses Restructuring

Islamabad: Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has confirmed that there are no plans to shut down the Utility Stores Corporation. This announcement came during a meeting with a delegation from the Utility Stores Corporation in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Industries and Production announcement issued on 02 September 2024, Rana Tanveer Hussain engaged in discussions about the future of the Utility Stores Corporation, emphasizing that the government is looking into various options to restructure the organization. The meeting was also attended by the Managing Director of the Utility Stores Corporation and the Secretary of Industries and Production.

During his address, Minister Hussain highlighted the development of a new subsidy mechanism aimed at enhancing transparency within the corporation. He reassured those present that the government would not take any unilateral actions regarding the closure of the Utility Stores Corporation. Decisions will involve thorough consultations with employees and all stakeholders, ensuring the protection of the interests of all government employees involved.
