Minister Tarar Confirms Legal Adherence in 26th Constitutional Amendment Process

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has affirmed that the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed in complete accordance with legal protocols, emphasizing the integrity of the process in the National Assembly. This amendment, described as historic, saw full participation and support from various political factions, including independent members who voted without any coercion.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar responded to concerns in the National Assembly, clarifying that the amendment’s passage involved extensive negotiations over two months with all political parties, including the PTI. He rejected any notions of undue haste in the process and highlighted the document as largely reflective of a consensus among the involved parties.

The Minister also addressed the current challenges within the PTI, suggesting that the party should focus on resolving its internal disputes rather than criticizing the amendment process. His comments come at a time when political unity is particularly vital for legislative efficacy.
