Ministerial statement on school attack by the Pakistan Taliban

Islamabad, December 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): I have today spoken to HE Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs (Foreign Minister equivalent), to offer on behalf of the Australian people our deepest condolences to the families of all the victims and the people of Pakistan in the wake of the horrific attack on a school in Peshawar.

I am appalled at the tragic loss of lives in the attack by the Pakistan Taliban. The killing of children is the most heinous of crimes. We share a common sense of grief and outrage at this senseless attack.

Australia stands together with Pakistan in our determination to eradicate terrorism and the threat of violent extremism in the region and globally. Such attacks will only strengthen our resolve to combat and prevent terrorism.
